My Journey and Inspiration
Growing up in the rocky rugged bush of Katherine, Northern Territory, my connection to the natural world has always been a profound part of who I am. The untamed landscapes, with their raw beauty and ever-changing moods, have been a constant source of inspiration for me. My journey into photography began as a way to capture the wild essence of the places I called home, but over time, it became so much more. With each click of the shutter, I found myself drawn deeper into the art of storytelling through images. The challenges I faced along the way—learning new techniques, experimenting with styles, and finding my unique voice—have all played a role in shaping the photographer I am today.
My Artistic Philosophy
For me, photography goes beyond simply capturing a scene—it's about evoking deep emotions and telling a compelling story. I’m especially drawn to a dark, moody aesthetic because it reflects the depth and complexity of both nature and the human experience. Using shadows and natural light, I strive to create images rich in emotion and texture. Whether I’m photographing a misty mountain range at dawn, capturing a fleeting moment of joy at a festival, or finding beauty in candid, mundane moments, my goal is to convey the essence of that moment in a way that resonates with the viewer’s soul. I want my work to not just be seen, but truly felt.
My Work and Collaborations
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working on some incredible projects that have pushed me to grow as an artist. From working with Kerwin Rae, honeing my skills in coorporate photography and live camera operation, to filming initmate gatherings of music, art and delicious food organised by Archive Mid-North Coast, each opportunity has allowed me to connect with people who share my love for the raw beauty of the world around us. These collaborations have not only showcased my photography and videography but have also been a testament to the power of art in bringing people together. As I continue to evolve, I’m excited to explore new projects and partnerships that challenge me and inspire others.
Personal Connection and Future Vision
Photography is my way of connecting with the world, and I hope my work inspires others to do the same. Through my images, I want to remind people of the beauty and complexity of the natural world and the importance of cherishing the fleeting moments of connection we share with one another. Looking ahead, I’m eager to continue expanding my portfolio, experimenting with new styles, and collaborating with like-minded creatives. My ultimate goal is to keep growing as an artist while staying true to the authentic, storytelling that defines my work.
