Minyon Falls, NSW

After a particularly wet couple of days, I ventured out to Minyon Falls to tackle the 13 km loop. While I’ve become quite familiar with this walk on warm and sunny days, today’s moody, rain-soaked conditions transformed the landscape into something entirely new. The normally sunlit paths were now shadowed, the air thick with mist, and the rainforest buzzed with life, as if the fungi had been waiting for just such a moment to emerge and take center stage. To challenge myself creatively, I decided to bring only my 50mm lens—a stark departure from my usual go-to, the versatile 16mm-200mm. This limitation pushed me to see the familiar in unfamiliar ways, focusing on the details that might otherwise be overlooked. The results are a series of images that capture not just the grandeur of Minyon Falls, but the intimate, often unnoticed beauty that flourishes in the damp, shadowed corners of the rainforest.
